5 more hours....

Spent five more hours packing my boss' dad's house... they have to be out of both houses by 9/28 and dad is in hospital, so Spirit & I volunteered to pack his dad's house for him. Wheeewww. Lots of work, lots of stuff...amazing what a person accumulates in some 60+ yrs of life, ya know? So, today is work, of course (ugh) and then Art Day in Volente @ Joan's house right afterwards. Should be able to make it JUST in time if we go straight from here, so Spirit & I packed the truck this morning with art supplies. Also have to run by shoe store as Spirit has a coupon that will expire tomorrow and NEEDS shoes... hate to waste coupon! Also swinging by PetsMart before 9pm to get the 40gal breeder they are holding for us (Indra's replacement) and some more cricket food...be surprised how much 1000 crix can chow down. :-) Let's see,,, what else? Oh, Caprice starter went out so we are taking floor jack & jack stands to Jayce so he can install new starter Sun

Adventures of Agathos and his friends

Well... another long day... doc visits, then hair appointments, then home to put away 1000 crix for the dragons that arrived from LLL Reptile. Then, left house for an HEB trip that was desperately needed (no greens for beardies, no milk for me, no 1/2 n 1/2 for Spirit... you know the drill). Two hours later (takes a long time when you have to scan ingredients on EVERY freaking thing!) and $115 poorer, we arrive home and begin putting away all the groceries. Cereal for dinner, tuck in the beardies, look in on the pythons, and all was well...Zzzzzz :-) So, this morning, I do my usual routine... get up, poor my coffee, grab some soy milk and produce from the fridge then set up shop on the counter. Some prickly pear cactus, a touch of chayote, a green bean each, a little shredded butternut squash, nicely arranged on beds of escarole & endive... and I have made two breakfast salads for the dragons!! I enter their room quietly (they are diurnal, so still fast alseep) and sneak the bowl

Morning tally...

Okay, I admit it... I DID go back to bed this morning after getting Spirit off to work. BUT I also got back up in time to check on all eight critters. Daimon ate his mouse, Agathos had not. Into the zippie and into the trash it went...nasty! Darn it! Still tweaking Indra's heating & basking a wee bit. Dragons are out of crickets until DHL gets here today... they kept looking at me like "Greens, that's it...greens???" Got a thousand on order for two cents apiece. Now if I could only get their greens as easily. Still have not found dandelion greens... can you imagine? AND I managed to squeeze in a ten minute walk on the Gazelle and a shower afterwards... now that we figured out how to set the resistance it is a bit of work! Latest word on the mower mess…Tracy asked for the mower back again last night in an email… apparently theirs is no longer functional and they can’t afford to get a new one because we are making them tile the kitchen & master bath (which wer

SHE responds & Fridge is TOAST

Well, got a letter in mail from landLADY last night... a reply (of sorts) to our "Top 10" list. Wont bore you w/it verbatim, but 3 highlights... 1} We cut down her rosebush No, really what we did was trim it because she planted a climing rose w/o a trellis at our bedroom window & it was scratching up side of house & make LOTS of noise on breezy nights. 2} We should have mentioned to HIM that the ceiling fan needed to be replaced instead of replacing it ourselves Well, we did EXACTLY. We pointed out the bearings were growling & the fan was wobbling in its mount and about to fall out of ceiling. His response was "I find the bearing noise and the wobbling sounds soothing at night." And never replaced the fan. HE might find it soothing, but WE could not sleep under a fan that could-at ANY time- fall into bed with us! So we replaced it. 3} We are letting her trees die in the yard No, what's really happening is that we are in the

and so it begins

Well, we had that little "chat" w/the landppl last week... and now the fun begins. When we moved in, landlord still had a poor wornout lawnmower on the premises... told us we could have it. So, we have taken it to lawnmower shop for a tuneup, new filters, spark plug, blade sharpening and a pull cord (because this one is frayed to the point of beyond thin). We told them that we were going to take it to the shop for all of this and that we would be footing the bill. After all, since we were given the mower, we are now responsible for its upkeep, not them. Unlike the floor vents, celing fan, phone jacks, etc that WE ended up replacing out of OUR pocket because he was never going to "get around to" fixing any of it. Ceiling fan was just plain dangerous, loose in ceiling over our bed..EEEK. And Callie wanted to take off into the ducting since there was no floor vent to stop her. HIS comment was "Well, she'll just come out the other end." WTF?!? Yeah, AF
